Normans Business Solutions is an office supplies and services provider based in County Durham. A family-run business, Normans operates from three branches in Billingham, Scarborough and York, making it the largest suppliers of business products and services in the North East region. With over 35 years in the industry, family and heritage is the foundation of the Normans brand. Today, Normans is comprised of a huge team, most of whom have worked for the business for over 10 years.

Normans has grown and evolved dramatically over recent years, a change which necessitated a reassessment of the look and feel of the Normans brand, digital presence and printed materials. Normans also commissioned KascAid to remodel their website as part of a larger consolidation of their ecommerce and corporate sites.

Here’s how we helped Normans Business Solutions consolidate and simplify its digital presence, refresh its brand image and update its print collateral.

The Challenge

Normans Business Solutions approached KascAid to reassess and refresh their logo and branding, as well as create a corporate website for prospective customers to visit. The team’s main goal was to bring the brand more in line with contemporary design as well as smarten their image and presentation through the creation of a corporate brochure, website and van livery.

This was a large-scale undertaking for the KascAid team, spanning a variety of disciplines including graphic design, brand work, web design, paid social media strategy and email marketing. As such, thorough, pragmatic project management, collaboration and clear communication was crucial to the success of this project.

The Solution

As a first step, we undertook research and discovery alongside the Normans team to understand their motivations for the project and their ideas for the direction of the rebrand. A range of concepts were drawn up before we settled on a clean, simple ‘N’ monogram-style logo. We then took this core logo and adapted it for Normans’ three service arms: interiors, business services, and business solutions, each with their own representative colour way. The result was a complete brand identity system that helps to unify each service and keeps communication clear and straightforward. The logos were later applied across workwear, van livery and signage.

With a refreshed logo and updated style guide established, we set about creating a new website. Previously, Normans Business Solutions had no digital presence apart from two separate ecommerce sites – one for prospects and one for existing customers, each occupying a different web domain. This confused prospective customers and visitors wishing to know more about the company and made the customer journey unnecessarily complicated. The new website streamlines and simplifies this journey by linking the prospect ecommerce site to the corporate site, meaning visitors are kept on a single path with no risk of getting lost, confused and discouraged. As well as designing and building the website, we also coordinated on-site photography and wrote copy for all pages. This hands-on approach, combined with considered project management, brought us closer to the Normans team and informed our work throughout each step.

To support the new brand identity and web design work, we created a variety of printed materials, including a corporate brochure and presentation folder, business cards for all staff, letterhead and email signatures. We also supported the launch of the new brand with paid social media advertising, email marketing and blog activity posted on the Normans LinkedIn page, a strategy that sought to position Normans as experts in their field. KascAid have since been commissioned to design and print Normans’ price list and catalogue.

The Result

KascAid worked to design, coordinate and implement a new brand system, digital communication strategy and website for Normans Business Solutions. The new brand identity gives the business a contemporary look and feel more in tune with their target audience and brand message.

Through a combination of all our disciplines, as well as sharp project management, Normans now enjoy clear and coherent communication of their brand, services and product with their customers.
